The symbolism of the badge (above) is believed to be unique in the annals of Anglo-Saxon heraldry, for it combines a traditional element with one that is “hitherto unheralded”: the traditional crossed quills (to represent writing) along with the non-traditional silhouette of a flying saucer, or UFO (unidentified flying object), a subject of interest to the bearer of the arms.
